  5. Mugged BBC3 - NOW Once every two minutes someone in Britain is mugged. What does it feel like for someone to hold a knife to your throat and demand your cash, to punch you to the ground and wrench your bag from your hands? If it happened to you, would you fight back, try to run or hand over your prized possessions? This documentary hears both victim's and mugger's powerful stories. Three victims give harrowing accounts of their muggings and its devastating aftermath. Aidan, a Leeds University student, was battered by a gang of 15 muggers as he walked home from lectures. He managed to escape with his possessions but is haunted by the experience, convinced that if he hadn't got away he would have been kicked to death. Ben, a young medic, was hit in the face with a brick by his mugger, leaving him with a fractured eye socket and robbed of his confidence. Richard was on his way to celebrate his A-level results when he was viciously attacked by a gang for his phone, leaving him in a coma for ten days. We follow Richard on his road to recovery and the trial of his muggers. We also hear from Jermaine, a reformed mugger, who started robbing people on the street at just 14. At 16 he found God and is now a youth worker, helping to keep young people out of trouble. With access to the Metropolitan Police's Street Robbery Unit we are first on the scene of a street robbery, hearing directly from a victim that has just been robbed and joining the detectives as they hunt down muggers - getting a raw, candid insight into the immediate aftermath of a mugging. This documentary will reveal the shocking human stories behind this all-too-often faceless crime. Free Speech - 10pm Discussion about teen crime...
  6. Our Crime: Robbed - BBC3, 9pm Being robbed at gunpoint is the stuff of nightmares, but how does the victim cope when the finger on the trigger belongs to a 13-year-old? This film explores the consequences of teenage robbing sprees that spiralled out of control, causing fear, trauma and even the loss of a life. Following the perpetrator's online trail of MSN messages, YouTube uploads and boasting on social networks, it documents the experience of the victims targeted during three very different street robberies and explores their and their families' attempts to come to terms with the aftermath of terrifying attacks.
  7. Criminal Britain Season BBC3 - 9pm Teen Gangs I Never Said Yes Our Crime Prison, My Family and Me Mugged - Reggie Yates: Teen Gangs – Tuesday 27th March 9pm Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates investigates the fear, anger and violence which feeds the dangerous culture of teenage gangs. In a bid to understand how people get drawn into this murky world, Reggie meets the teenagers who see gang membership as one of the few ways of being accepted in their area. He also talks to young people who are trying to break free of a life of gangland crime and meets the former leader of the most feared street gang in South London. Watching?

  11. GYPSY BLOOD - Gypsy Fighting doc - NOW, C4 Filmed over two years by award-winning photographer Leo Maguire, Gypsy Blood examines the violent culture that some gypsy and traveller fathers hand on to their sons. The film is an intimate portrait of two gypsy families, their fight for respect and the price they pay in cycles of revenge that can erupt into sudden and terrifying violence. The Dohertys are Irish Traveller royalty. While Hughie Doherty, 27, becomes embroiled in a fight to defend his family's name, his seven-year-old son Francie is caught between two worlds, learning to read at primary school while learning to fight with his fists at home. Fred Butcher is Romany but torn between the gypsy fighting tradition and his love as a father. His nine-year-old son, Freddy Cole, is terrified his father will be badly hurt in a fight. The film follows the story of how Fred nearly dies in a machete attack as a day of drinking and sparring goes terribly wrong. Gypsy Blood is a haunting study of masculinity, violence and the uneasy relationship gypsy and traveller men have with their bare-knuckle traditions, and an insight into people living amongst a wider society but sometimes with values that are a world apart.
