And the beat goes on: Drink-drive junior doctor spared jail for being ‘stressed’ A junior doctor arrested twice for being drunk at the wheel has been spared jail after claiming she was addicted to alcohol due to the ‘‘stress” of studying at one of the world’s most prestigious universities. Dr Lauren Fowler, 25, graduated from Imperial College London last year with a degree in medicine but drank heavily during her studies and said she did not know who to turn to for help. The A-starred former student met friends for lunch shortly after graduating last October and drank white wine. She then drank another bottle from an off-licence before crashing her Ford Ka in an area busy with pedestrians. She was so drunk she was “swearing and slurring her words” when police arrived at the scene to find… https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/drink-drive-junior-doctor-spared-jail-for-being-stressed-9g39bjbqd

Err, let me simplify it for you. A lot of the managers today are ex-footballers. It would be fair to say there’s a sizeable group of black/minority footballers, that have been playing in the English leagues for over twenty years. You don’t find it strange that at the end of 2015, 23 out of 552 elite coaching roles are held by BME people? That’s 4% despite BME players making up 25% of the leagues? And yet Pullis, Pardew, Allardyce, Moyes etc seem to always get employed and recycled? This is what you call institutional racism. If you’re going to make the fallacious reasoning of the “lack of middle aged black men” being the reason for the lack of black managers then let’s use the argument of proportional representation. Explain the 4% of managers being BME despite there being a higher percentage of BME players?

How would you tackle the issue of the lack of black/ethnic minority managers in professional football, If positive discrimination isn’t the answer?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42623021 The Football Association will interview at least one applicant from a black, Asian and minority ethnic background for future roles in the England set-up. English football's governing body will adopt its own version of the 'Rooney Rule' implemented in the NFL in 2003. A step in the right direction? Or will it all just be for show?

Here’s the actual girl she was based on.

Americans can only see racism through their own narrow scope. They refuse to use context outside of America. If it’s racist to them it’s racist everywhere else in the world. Typical outrage culture we live in.

Most of the time the black father leaves their (fat) white mother. The white mother struggles to raise them around these thirsty colour struck wolves. They end up seeking validation from these waste men and get caught up. Black Girl Lost. Standard procedures, especially in Croydon. They don’t call it zebra city for nothing.

Explain to me where I said it was lovely?

Why is this thing quoting me? I don’t acknowledge anyone who can’t string together one coherent sentence.

Like I said, I don’t have all the facts. Every case has to be judged on their individual merit. If someone got punched and they died, and the person who threw the punch was defending themselves, common sense should dictate that they shouldn’t serve time. So please don’t make this argument reductive to “time for punching someone.” Or deterrents from punching. If he punched the guy and he lived, at most it would be GBH. Again, my point isn’t about stopping people from punching each other. The story suggests the murderer was the aggressor and if that’s the case, he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Im not saying I have the perfect answers but he’ll still have his life to live at 46, as opposed to his victim. At the moment, most sentences handed out for man slaughter are a joke. You’ll get more time for dodging taxes then you would for murdering someone in a hit and run.
-
Obviously the point went over your head.

Well let me state I’m 100% against the death penalty because: 1). It has never been proven to be a deterrent from commiting crimes. 2). If the wrong person is tried under capital punishment, you can’t undo it and even if let’s say 95% are guilty beyond doubt and put to death, it’s immoral for the other 5% to be killed despite being innocent. In this case, I don’t know all the facts. It will more than likely be manslaughter based on what I’ve read. If this “boy” did murder this shop keeper over some rizla papers, I’d say 30 years minimum with no parole. The man he murdered will never get his life back and he has destroyed the lives of his friends and family. So even at 46, he’ll still have the rest of his life to live once released. As much as I think he’s a scumbag for what he has allegedly done, it’s just as inhumane to give American style 50/60 year prison sentences. I believe there are those that can be rehabilitated and there are those that are beyond help. My only beef has been with people saying they shouldn’t be named and shamed because of their age. If you commit an act as evil as murder, rape, molestation, you’ve forfeited your right to anonymity. My two cents.

Fam, I was scratching my head wondering what part of the post was hard to understand.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to accept there’s racism that comes from ignorance and racism that comes from genuine fear/hatred. The former to me is harmless. I’ve had old white women/men use terms that are offensive to me and others with no real malice. When I was younger, it used to piss me off but now that I’m older, I’ve learned to put things into context and understand not everything is said/done maliciously. I’m not gonna check some 70 year old who’s using old “Love Thy Neighbour” banter because it’s pointless. But people in our age group should know better and they’ll get checked quickly if they try and slyly drop those UKIP/NF bars. Like you said, when you have someone like Ron Atkinson who has done so much for black footballers, it’s conflicting how someone can think that’s acceptable to talk about another human being. There’s levels to this but as you stated, it’s not all black & white when it’s comes to how people are (pardon the pun).
-
Well said. Obviously it’s a stupid thing to say but it’s not Ron Atkinson level of racism. What the latter said was beyond disgusting. Again, I’m not defending what he said but it’s so minor compared to the real racism which is intuitional, it doesn’t really warrant a whole article. Having said that, the player had every right to feel aggrieved and rightfully so.
-
It was over not selling rizla papers but it’s sad either way. He came to this country to make something of his life and he lost it over some scumbags who no doubt, probably won’t amount to anything in life. There’s no deterrent for low lives like this. They know they’ll do a joke sentence in which they’ll serve half the time. Come back out onto the streets and continue the cycle. It really says something when some people are more concerned with the rights of criminals when those same criminals have no regards for anyone else’s life.

Wenger is the football David Brent.

“But he’s only 17.” ” He didn’t know any better.” ”How does this benefit the public?” ”He’s just getting over being born” (insert more idiotic posts to protect his identity)
-
“She’s butters anyway.”
-
Fam, I’m very much aware of this law. That’s why I addressed it to the other poster since she’s asking what’s the benefit of knowing someone’s criminal history.
-
Since you want to be obtuse let me ask you this. If a teenager at age 16, was convicted of sexually molesting a young girl, would you be happy if he was released 10 years later, and moved into your area with full anonymity? Yes or no?
-
You have to question what kind of people are more concerned with a criminal’s rights, than the public’s right to know who’s a murderer/rapist etc. You’d think someone who has forfeited their freedom by their heinous actions, should also lose their right to anonymity. But apparently, 16 year old murderers don’t know any better and should be give a chance.
-
Even if that “child” molested another child? His/her identity should remain concealed?
