'Your' music didnt sound like it does now before Sticky and Dex were making their 4/4 tunes. You didn't originate the sound, you just built a drug fuelled rave scene around it and then banged out a load of cheap knock offs.
lol at that nonsense.
About nonsense. If you can find me a Bassline tune made before Bullacake that uses those same drums and bassline melody I will give you £50. You won't find one because all of the current producers tiefed up that one finger bouncey bassline style.Every single Bassline tune sounds the same. And they all sound like the bastard child of Dexplicit, Sticky and DJ Wire's off beat bass synth.
nonsense once again.your giving Dexplicit waaaay too much credit. Bulllacake has a standard 4x4 drum pattern so what is it so revolutionary about the drums is it that your giving him credit for?http://www.hardtofindrecordsrecordstore.co.../MR171571_1.mp3
The drums are not the unique thing about Bassline 4/4. The unique thing about Bassline 4/4 from a purely musical standpoint is the simplistic melodies used in the riffs, backed up with the synth basslines played in key with those melodies. The style of playing that warp bassline off-beat was being done in garage by people like Wire and Narrows in 2003, but it was a lot darker and moody. However, Dexplicit and Sticky have been making melodic up tempo bassline driven 4/4 garage tracks since 2001. And pretty much all of them you wouldn't bat an eyelid at ifthey came out tomorrow with the name TS7 or EJ or whoever else you might want to draw for's name attached to them instead. No one in the South is bitter about anything, we just find it highly amusing this is getting championed as some new genre when all it is is a new rave scene. I find it no less amusing than 'Funky House'. That music is as old as the hills and it's just a new bunch of people who are raving to deep and soulful house. Same way a new generation of midlands and northrners are raving to music which EZ was playing 4 years ago.

I have just listened to the number one selling E.P in this genre and it sounds like music that was getting banged out in Purple E3/Ceasar's 5 years ago with MC Supplier spitting all over it.
that is?
Jamie Duggan
Jamie Duggan is a DJ who very rarely produces so god knows which EP you were listening to.the top selling Ep's right now are T2- Heartbroken EP, TS7- Summer Payback EP & TRC - Lately. Look out for mine coming soon

Exactly.I even remember that this sound ,the whole bumpy 4x4 bassline new sh*t didn't even really take off as we'd had all the real bumpy garage in the late 90's early 2000. I remember going record shop and the geezer playign some new bumpy 4x4 bassline stuff which was sh*t.I now know where it all ended up.

Lol your deluded if you think that an old Sticky or Dexplicit tune could pass for a TS7 or EJ tune. The reason i mentioned the drums is because you pointed out that the drums on bullacake were the first of their kind. So I'm asking you what is so revolutionary about the drums on that track? Its a standard 4x4 drum pattern. And the track I posted you a link to was before bullacake.

That T2 sound was getting caned on Rinse by people like Jiggy B, that kind of sound is never new or unique, but 5 years old.Maybe it takes 5 years for the Rinse radio waves to be picked up up north. Can you hear PAUG?
Show me examples, I'm counteracting your points with facts and audio.Your acting as if your talking to a 15 year old yute who has just jumped onto the new craze, I've been listening to garage and Speed garage from day the same way that you probably have. the difference is your from London so you tend to pay little attention to whats going on outside your city whereas I've got a broader sense of whats going on across the country. the fact you were still calling it Niche 20 mins ago despite the fact I've already said its a club not a genre proves this.We can have this debate all day long and i can show you as much audio as you like but I'm pretty sure none of you will admit that your wrong in thinking that this music is the same as what was being made 7 years ago by your beloved London producers.the fact that every point you make makes reference to London tells its own story. I'm talking about music - something that you hear, what post code it was made in makes no difference to me but true say I know you man are obsessed with post codes.I can give credit to Dexplicit for making Bullacake cos it was a good tune the same way i can give credit to T2 cos he makes good tunes.

I'm at work, so can't up any audio.Just listening to a few tracks I know that this 4x4 Bassline is nothing new - how can it be when it's built on the same principles as certain Garage tracks 5 years ago? Twisted offbeat sh*t basslines, hard drums and loud hats. It's not new.

Flojo and M12 burying with facts.
You've got to be kidding meI can't believe no-one's said anything about M12 trying to say we could say grime is the same as jungle... The analogy is flawed because they're completly different genres.. Jungle is a form of 'dance' music for a start, its something that was played regularly in clubs for people to dance just like d&b.. Grime could never be called that.. Not to mention they're both COMPLETELY DIFFERENT tempos..The comparison between niche and garage is alot closer because they both use 4x4 drum patterns (there was bare 4x4 about 6 years ago, even if you listen to a bait pure garage cd you'll notice that).. They're the same tempo.. They both use syncopation as a strong rhythmic element (especially in terms of the 'off beat' basslines"), both (from what i've heard) are quite melodic.. Both feature remixes of r&b songs or female singers, both pitch up the vocals aswell.. Both use triplets (3rd notes whatever you want to call them) quite alot, which is quite rare for any genre really... Both feature the use of square bass sounds (altho alot more present in this new 'niche' business) Someone up some more tunes so i can make some more bait comparisons..And dont get me wrong, this 'niche' music is SICK.. But thats because UKG is SICK, and niche is UKGedit* lol @ me starting to download dipsets tracks and them only strengthening my theory

Syncopation is used heavily in loads of music genres, especially in modern music.M12 was applying Apache's logic when he put it forward that grime and jungle are the same. All dance genres tend to use rnb vocals for remixes until they become more established and vocalists beging recording original tracks which is whats happening at the moment. http://www.myspace.com/straightbassline -Check the Kyla tune on my page and You Feat Ideal (Big Vocalist from Manny)Regarding the drum patterns, the 4x4 drum pattern is used in Bassline 4x4 cos it derived from Speed Garage.Bassline like almost every other genre is influenced by ones that came before it but that doesn't mean to say its the same.L you should come to a bassline rave, you'll probably appreciate the vibes and notice the differences between the two as well as the similarities.Big rave happening soon just outside Bristolbothmy7.jpg
