The lead story is primarily ridiculing and discrediting this guy's comments, as well as all the rest of his crackpot theories. The headline is to sell the paper, something that headlines are intended to do. independent is racist or at least they push stories which appeal to racists and fuel borderline racists. they back the tories and always push those "no more immigrants" "immigrants are ruining this country" type stories. It's basically The Sun for people who are educated.You must be thinking about a different paper, because I know you aren't talking about the Independent, which is largely centre-left, sternly anti-racist and pro-immigration, very ideologically distant from the Tories and with most its editorials aligning with the Lib Dems.
