Giggs aims to play on

Ryan Giggs has admitted he plans to stay at United for at least another season.

The veteran midfielder continues to shine despite reaching the ripe old age of 38 and remains a vital cog in the Reds' machine.

In an exclusive in-depth interview in the latest edition of Inside United, the club's official magazine, Giggs confirms he is keen to prolong his glittering career.

When asked if the aim is to play on beyond May, the former Wales international replied: "Yeah, it is at the moment. We'll sit down pretty soon and see what we want to do but, at the moment, I feel good and I want to carry on."

The prospect of playing into his forties brought a laugh and the response: "Now that one's a question! You can't see it but we'll see.

"When that changes [having a big influence on the pitch], then that's when I'll want to stop.

"But I feel like I'm still an influence on and off the pitch so I'll carry on."

Sir Alex, also speaking exclusively to Inside United, confirmed that another new deal is in the pipeline.

"We certainly hope so, yes," he replied when asked if Giggs can carry on for another year. "There has been no discernable detrioration in his play whatsoever and, in that sense, why shouldn't he stay on another year?

"Obviously, it's entirely up to Ryan himself but I don't see any reason why he can't continue."

@Fanta i hear what your saying but surely you realise why SAF has to tow the company line for the good of the club in the long run.

when it comes to repaying loans and the agreements involved with all that, as well as securing new ones, issuing bonds and potentially floating on stock markets across the world,

everybody singing from the same hymn sheet is imperitive, SAF in the past has been and rightly so, accused of doing things for his own benefit rather than that of the club and the future of the club, his vocal public backing of the owners since the takeover whether we like it or not is what he has to do for the benefit of the club, the bond issue roughly raised around £500 million if i remember correctly, if the manager and someone seemingly as wise as SAF was seen mouthing off about the state of the club in the run up to that issue, theres no way we wouldve raised that much money,

a large part of the line of "Manchester United debts are sustainable" is directly down to David Gill and Alex Ferguson being in charge, without going into details this is a fact, (i was a member of shareholders United) the support of these two men are the overiding reasons why the Glazer have been able to switch up the loans and sort the repayments of them,

in short SAF is lying/bending the truth in order to help secure the long term security of the club,

he comes out and slews the Glazers, the banks would get twitchy, we wont be able to get as big a loans as we've been getting and the repayments structures of said loans would be out of the clubs/Glazers hands and the banks will realise they've got us over a barrel.

Andy Walsh just after the takeover said, in terms of the ownership of the club only listen to what Fergie had to say before the Glazers had a controlling stake at United, and only take good notice after they have long gone, as untill then what he says has to be for the greater good, and that isn't always going to be the truth,

Another reason for no new signings

There will be new signings at the end of the season, coupled with the sale of a few players, both larger contract ones and a couple lower earners,

i'd bet a good ammount of money on at least 2 significant ones possibly 3

then possibly a float on a stock market in the far east,

The Morrison situation is sad.

I honestly hope he gets his head down and realises his potential, even more so if it's away from OT.

One thing I'm curious about is whether or not he was sent out on loan to Belgium like you do with a lot of your other youngsters, it seems like it would have been the obvious thing to do.

Don't think the Belguim second division is what he needed. Even our right back Michael Keane turned it down and nothing was said. If Ravel had done that there wouldve been news columns full his thuggish attitude.

If Fergie can force championship managers to give players like Drinkwater, Hewson, even Manucho went Hull ffs, why not loan him out.

Some players need to break through straight away like Rooney and Owen did but NO we play f*ck*ng PARK and RAFAEL in CM over him

IS THIS LIFE?

These sort of fans boy.

Would love to know how many people base there opinion on facts and not hearsay

Even when that twitter rumour which Rio denied last year, about him stealing his watch surfaced again this year, look how quick he was hung out to dry.

He grew up in a poor area, probably went to a sh*t school, being mixed race means its even more likely he will have friends who will do bad things, we have all been there and been a part of that.

Should he have just left the people he grew up with? had no friends? surrounded himself with gold diggers?

Everyone keeps saying look at Scholes, no trouble, totally different times and culture along with circumstances.

Our club has failed to adapt to the times which is going to effect our future.

Why not use football to turn his negative energy into a positive output.

So what in life we just give up on people?

We pass concrete judgements before facts are given?

Ferguson has been a c*nt to players before, why is it impossible he is doing the same now?
