This forum had me nearly thinking it was all Moyes tbh.

We were outbid for Hazard and Lucas, Sanchez went to what was at the time arguably the best club side ever....

All being equal why are Hazard and them man gonna play for United with the squad being improved in a drip drip manner when you could play for a club that'd move like bosses in the transfer market.

Rooney is on 300k coz his agent is smart and understands his worth to "the brand" (the team is irrelevant) he understands it'd cost United more to replace than just to renew.

Quick break down. Rooney is cost Ming something like 85 million for the rest of his contract. To replace Rooney £30 million transfer 10 million signing on fee, how much in less shirt sales and the player might not settle at all....

He's the marquee player, he had to be placated. Anyone who doesn't or didn't believe his marquee status. He is an ambassador of the club and will be the next captain.

United need Rooney more than he needs United. Let that resonate for a minute and then think back to the 90's up till now, a club that use ms to break their transfer record as a matter of routine to a club who's fans get happy at the mere idea of buying a player we've heard of.

Ask yourself how this has happened? The Thank God Fergie was in charge for as long as he was as the decline would've may e come sooner.

With all that said, in a parallel universe somewhere, Fergie did retire in the early 2000's. was replaced by Sven or Lippi (they were the main ones linked, and were respected choices of the time not Mclaren like Fergie wanted)
