True say if you're moving with a major, then you'll get the left-over change...Plus, they'd own the masters for like 50-70 years plus...Again, tryna go the traditional route in this age is suicide. Don't make the mistake of being basic and try a lil' innovation is what's best IMO

I been rolling in East for the past couple days. I'm walking in the HMV in the Stratford shopping centre and I see Chipmunks's oblong head on a CD case.Man actually got some serious retail space...f*ckin' suprised still. Props

GETTIN RETAIL SPACE IN THIS DAY AND AGE AINT HARD.. face it, these HMV and co are under pressure and they are opened to offers more than b4. But movin units is another thing. Also major labels aint even that bad. Most people are just too desperate and inpatient when it comes to cuttin deals. If you have a good negotiator u can get more per album.

Dude, after reading the nitty-gritty of some of the most basic recording contracts, it seems more bother than it's worth IF you can be innovative about the way you market yourself and if you have the work ethic and obviously the talent to make it work.I don't even think it's about record labels whatsoever TBH...

Tru..Not everyone is gonna as the ability/finance to make it on there ones in the game.. But IMO people need to start there own thing and let labels chase them rather than the other way round.

I'm glad tbh, I always thought albums were too expensive. I happily download music just to spite artists. I dunno how people are making BIG money from it
lol albums too expensive. how cheap. its like £10 sometimes a couple £ more.
The album is one click away, they were taking the piss imop considering man could just download it for free. Now all that is left is to cut footballers wages to 50k a year and I'll have nobody to hate on.

who gets the majority of the 6-7 pounds? the artist or the producer?or is it an even split?
I swear the producer would get more but it'd depend if they were signed or not...Were the artist to be signed, then best believe some of those royalties would have to be recouped by his/her label...Not too sure with the producer, would depend if they were with a production company/publisher company.

from time jus being played on kiss is 6-7 pound a MINUTE in royalties (or suttin like tht) u know theres peas to b made in this ting. lol at the non believers.
FABUBU..lol u think if man were making that off royalties, they will bother making albums.. lol
if this was the case I'd be back on this music ting, from when I was sick.I know for a fact a #1 UK single = million pounds in cash to you, not the record label, you.
LOL you know for a FACT.Where does this money come from? Is there some sort of committee who hand out a miilion pound cheque to everyone who gets a #1 single? You can get to number 1 selling no more than around 30-40 thousand copies sometimes less. Singles sell between 99p to £1.99. The label then has to re-coup pressing, printing and distribution costs. I think you can work out the rest.
