If you are giving someone a lift somewhere, do you charge people ?my friend attempted to try and charge me £5 the other week, i didnt even ask her to give me a lift, she offered as she had just finished work the same time i had arrived in manc.( she works in the city centre )Get to my destination and shes like oh just give me a fiver for the petrol money next time you see me, i just looked at her like :D and got out of the car. The journey was not even long, was only going from the centre of manc to old trafford and she is tryna charge me a fiver.............. :D lol @ her if she thinks she will be getting such money from me.i could never charge someone petrol money if i willingly offered them a lift.* i might take the car up this weekend if im brave enough to face driving all that way on my own, its a flipping mission, with my driving skills, it will probably take me longer to get there than it does on a coach/train *

I think its common courtesy to at least offer if we're going somewhere far. Depending on my petrol and how i feel is whether I'll take it or not.
ye i agree it is common courtesy but that day my friend was taking the piss, it was literally a 5minute journey in the car.my friend picked me up at the halfway point of my journey a couple of months back as he was in london visiting some of his family and he was on his way back to manc, so he picked me up in bham , i gave him a tenner for petrol, he wouldn't accept the money so i just left it in his car.

No I dont.....but then it dependsmy petrol prices are through the roof a full tank costs £60 and I only get 200 miles out of it so you can imagine that dont take me farIf people want me to give them a lift some where its cool but as a matter of courtesy I expect them to offer at least a little somethingif they dont then next time I wont give them a lift although I will never tell them this

You know what charging mates for a quick whip ting round townOr even whip'n it with mates who are going to the same destination as youIs a straight no-pay tingI've told my mates plently of times I won't charge them and I don'tBut if it's like a long ting like we've done in the past to like Bristol or CornwallThen I think a tenner is more than enoughPlus I drive a 1.6 S Fiesta Zetec so yeah it guzzels petrol like anything

i dont have stingy mates with carswe drove to aviemore (3 hour drive - 2 full tanks to get there and back) so each of the 3 of us gave the driver £20he said before hand, so it wasnt a problemi wudnt mind tbh if i asked for a lift and my mate said "yeah but il need petrol money"but not mentioning itthen casually dropping "you owe me a fiver"nah
