What about it do you think won't be cheap?

Fees are the same of course, but it's cheaper than going to a non-UK university as an international student.

It's just a campus they've built in one of China's cities, which isn't massively westernised like Shanghai, so not expensive to live in. I'm paying 1/4 of the rent I'd pay here.

Anyway, they've given me an offer. Applying to London uni's this week though so that I can hopefully have a choice when I make my decision in a few months.

Front office jobs want an A or A* in 'A' level maths and a 2.1 or higher in a relevant subject from a top university.

A masters will help no doubt. High costs from LSE/Oxbridge though.

Good luck on that though, you're certainly one of the more intelligent and sensible posters from what I've seen on here. Your goals are VERY achievable.

As in today/Monday/Tuesday?

Why not apply for places at banks anyway, swear no one seems to need a masters these days.

Nah, December 2014, this year is basically an experience year, i.e. ticking my days off for my logbook.

As for applying at banks now, just won't feel comfortable without a masters in finance, more of a prestige thing tbh, as most chartered exams cover advanced finance. But I'll see how I feel as 2014 carries on.

Yeah that's why it was a bit tricky applying out of Uni (Got a B at A level, but did 4 A levels), so decided to get chartered, hoping to make it easier to get a front office job.

Price is certainly peak, but isn't a massive obstacle. Cheeers and goodluck for 2k14 ladssss.

How long have you been in training to go chartered Raikonnen?

/

Also applied to do a MSc couple months ago, Real Estate Economics & Finance/Regional & Urban Planning Studies

Only LSE so far but will also apply to Cass and maybe Cambridge, my reasoning is that if I am paying 18k then it's only worth better Unis.

Currently working in the field and applying many of the skills covered in my preferred scheme (MSc REEF) but I need a conversion course to attain RICS Chartership as I did economics and I feel I also need to get a better uni on my CV to kind of qualify everything I know.

Hopefully I get accepted and I can defer because where I am at is such an amazing learning experience but a drain on time, right now I'm 22 so I can accept that but I'm thinking of kids in the next 3-4 years and I need some structure to be there for my family, so the goal is to get experience here do an MSc and depending on whether I can get a directorship in the company possibly go corporate obviously I'd prefer the former.

Niall would you say corporate companies have a more structured work-life balance at the upper echelons?

Good question.

I would say that work-life balance (WLB) becomes a relative term when you work in top companies. What I mean is, compared the "average other" in lower echelons, your WLB will seem insane. However, compared with your peers your WLB will probably be the norm.

TBH, most people I know who work in the upper echelons of banks/consultancy firms/prof. services firms/law firms etc are extremely organised and focused, and are able to work lots and lots of hours but still enjoy the time they have spare, doing lots of wholesome things.
