im finding this summer to be quite sick after my first year.got decent results, got a very massive break and shifted my lifestyle so much that everyday im just doing things i enjoy and being free from any form of work....but almost like ALL of the people i know who are on holidays from uni's say der overly bored back home and they cant wait for it to start again and cant wait to move back up for it...i dont seem to get this. well i can sort of see how socially its less active being at home and away from the crowd with less going on, but u could easily make ur own social life back home.and being at uni means u got some kind of work to be doing, which is just long wen its looming over ur head even if ur the most irresponsible person.....so my question is, who else cant wait to get back to uni? and explain wot im missing.
a loan.the uni gash.the uni lifestyleits all muchhhhhh different
im still living off my loan in the summer, wot u on lol.its cos i moved back yard tho, i was in london living out but it wasnt really worth it at the price i was paying and i was piled with too much work that i couldnt enjoy the social bit without floppin my year HARD, so i just cut my losses n moved back home.from the 1 term i lived out n had a bit of freedom and saw all dat sh*t, i dnt think it would be enuff to make me feel to say "i cant wait to get back to uni"...but maybe cos i was in uni in london that kinda says it all.
ding ding dingu dont like uni cos u didnt leave ur hometown and ur not living in halls. IMO if u dont do both these things uni just aint the same level

i was living in halls at one point...but ye i guess i can see wot ur saying...thing is i had that full on lecture from all the older ppl i knew, about how u shud pick ur uni so that u get the most out of it and how socially u wouldnt have it the same being in london, etc etc....but i dunno, ive seen the madness in dem out of london uni's and tbh...gettin a good degree>>>>>>>>>>all dat hype + a fail or a sh*t degreei can make my own social life and fun here just fine, im happs wid it. it just sounds a bit fussy and whingy to have to SPECIFICALLY move to gain this new profound social life.i guess different people look at it differently.

you still ahve time would prolly get paid round oct/nov times though.u cant blag the form thing. you have to request one by phoning ur borough thing and then they post one out or they send it automatically . it goes through their system though so you cant say it was never posted.and if u posted it via royal mail they will say tough sh*t to you. in fact they will say its ur fault for not using a secure method of postage or foning up sooner askin wt happend to ur application.just get that sh*t done ASAP.

I just graduated, so won't be returning to uni and am well depressed!!!Living at home is long cos even the little stuff your mum asks you to do seems like major hassle.Obviously the social side ain't as good, can't just bop round a mate's so easily when your bored, the estate i lived on at uni all my mates were within a 5min walk.Plus i blazed freely at uni, can't do that home. Blazing the odd zoot out your bedroom window is not a good look.
i can see how having ur parents out the way would feel free...but i dunno socially, uni didnt really do THAT much for me wen i was living there. sure it was convenient to go to ur mates wenever ur bored, but i do that in ends anyways...im pretty free at home, i dnt av curfue's or any hassle bout wen im goin out, i just go as i please and i can rave just fine and get home wenever i like.as for blazing, i bun pretty freely as and wen i want to. i dont think not being able to blaze directly in my yard is such a drag cos i had my points wen i bunned baaaaaare all day everyday and im not on that kind of hype anymore...blazing less is so much better on so many levels.

just ring 0800 731 9133and ask for a PR1 (if you're 2nd year)they'll send it t your houseand then you just send it to your local authority or take it there if you wishbecause even if you ring them and say it was lostthey'll probably make you fill it in again anyway

i dont know about ur circumstances (course, a level grades etc). but u can definately get a dood degree and have fun outside london. uni degree is all about you and how easily u let urself get distracted. i never missed any big raves but when the time came i did my work and no1 could tell me otherwise. people who saw me in raves expected me to be doing resits/not coming back because of how much i was out but not the case at all.and also the detachment from home is what makes uni so live. its not the new social life. its just the complete freedom, u can go where u want and come back wen u please. lash who u want whenever. catch jokes till the sun comes up. make as noise as u want etc. every man always says "but i can do that at home",but the truth is no u cant at least nowhere near as regualrly as u can at uni.

Can't I say I collected a form from the office personally?
oh yeh!i still think its same story though. they wont care for ur sob story. its an admin business to them man. if u say ur gonna die cos u will have no money/shelter come sept they will redirect u to ur uni's support services. they only deal in letters and evidence

meh.i see wot ur sayin wid the social...but tbh i do what i want, go where i want and come in at all hours wenever i feel like at home tbh...my parents are quite safe with the freedom. i guess the only difference is that the social stops wen u get inside, compared to uni where its like a free yard.also it being more regular, but tbh student events dnt really attract me that much, i got bored of going out everyday in london. i guess if i had more of a social circle from living out id be der a bit more but ye it does get repetitive, and its nt gettin any cheaper.

This is very real talk.I love having my own freedom and I believe it was good getting that kind of independence as it can help develop discipline and make you more responsible when you are moving out on your own post uni. And the whole tihng of going to a friend's house at 11pm, and just walking 20 or so seconds (for me sometimes it was 5 seconds as my block was right next to my friend's) to your own yard at 4/5am getting ready for a 9am lecture.

Right people, I need some advice. For those who don't know, I'm looking to reach a US college next year on a athletic scholarship but that ain't happening till july/August 2009 because I've had to raise enough funds to last me for years, lol...So to ensure I don't start my Freshman year at 22, I'm gonna do 1 year of university here in London then transfer...So now, I'm just waiting for Clearing to begin. I'm not really too fussed what university TBH, just as long as it's London and I don't have to live in dorms. For the year 2006/2007, I went Westminster University and did BA Commercial Music but that kinda flopped but I'm re-applying for a different course in a different department...I'm also looking at Roehampton & London Met. Anyone care to drop some info...Just bear in mind, I'm not really down for the experience. It's more about the practicality considering I've got football 2/3 days out of the week, I'll be working 18-24 hours a week plus other sh*t like gym...Help would be appreciated in addition to a lil' suhen on Clearing and the process...Thanks, Mike Kane loves you all....

Aah, Roehampton! I had bad experiences in terms of an admin situation, but I really can't fault the classes. I really enjoyed them, and I did well in each course. The social life seemed quite dry but I'm unsociable so I didn't really make an effort. There's an ACS though.Through Roehampton I was able to do an international exchange programme for one semester. I went to the USA, but you can also go to Europe and Australia. What course would you be planning to do there?Feel free to ask any more questions.

Fam, its sounds like youre trying to fit uni into a already hectic schedule. When in actual fact IMO i dont think you can do that, i mean unless you dont really care about it. £3145 is abit to much money to not care though. Is it necessary for you to go for a year here? Its not that bad going to uni out in america at 22.
