Sportsmail online understands that on discovering that Ashton had been offered to Tottenham, and Bellamy to the new Arab owners at Manchester City, on the final day of the transfer window, Curbishley considered it time to walk.
Dont know whether this is bullshit or not, but it holds more weight than the stories involving us in last minute £10m bids for Carlton Cole and Emile Heskey...

If that's true then I partially retract my previous post. He's still a sh*t manager. But IF it's true, he did the right thing.
West Ham will be relegated/fighting relegation within the next 2 years Curbishley while producing "boring Football" also produced stability 10th place was a good finish i'm not totaly convinced Bilic would leave Croatia now and equally unconvinced that if he does take over that he'll be given complete control

Big, dirty Co-SignWhats the point in being able to entertain but cant win matches.Remember the fun football they played before they got relegated? SMFH

Erm no. We played sh*t football under Roeder and Pardew, Curbishley too.We aint played good ball since Harry, then subsequently finished 5th one year.?Seen...West Ham have traditions of playing good football, Ron Greenwood was the pioneer of attacking fullbacks, we have a great academy and expect our teams to play a certain way at all levels of the club.Simple as that tbh.Who says you can't play a short passing game and be successful? Long ball sh*t doesn't entertain us.
To play the football you want to see takes a certain quality of player the type your not able to attract right now Tradition is all well and good and i understand what your saying about the good football, but a good question is would you rather be playing Brazil type football in the Championship or safe football in the premiership. Some clubs really have to start taking stock of what they have take a minute to really look at their club/players/fianancial/board situation and think about their expectations

We produced Cole, Carrick, Defoe, Lampard, Rio - we played good football without spending money.Expecting to play football that our club was built on is not expecting too much. And name me one side in the Championship who play like Brazil tbh...
Just because you produced a number of top quality players at one time before doesn't mean its gonna happen again it was purely coincidence that you were blessed with a influx of good youngsters at that time the same way United were in 92 the likeliness of seeing as many young players of that quality come through again at the same is not very high In the premier league you can count on 1 hand the teams that play exciting football and for the most part those clubs have good stability you need to find the stability at a high level before you can start seeing reward on the pitch
You talk sh*t.Ipswich play good short passing football, Crewe play good short passing football. I am fully aware of which divisions they ply their trade respecitively, but it's about tradition.West Ham, whether first div or second always played good football, except under Lou Macari, so therefore that is exactly why we expect to see the game played correctly.I don't give a f*ck if teams like Everton, Liverlol, Villa, Bolton, Boro etc etc want to grind out there seasons for safety and possible european qualification. I don't care if West Ham get relegated. I care that we are true to ourself and play in the way we know best.I'd rather draw 4-4 than win 1-0.I don't expect you to understand, you aren't West Ham.Football is a game and should be fun to watch, not depressing like the Liverpools brand of "football" or Boltons under Allardyce.f*ck stability, give me entertainment any day of the week.
Slaven Bilic has ruled himself out of the running for the West Ham vacancy, but Paolo Di Canio admits it would be his 'dream'.The Upton Park club are searching for a new manager following Alan Curbishley's decision to resign on Tuesday after 21 months in charge.Former Hammers defender Bilic, who has seen his stock rise after his displays at the helm of Croatia, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League for some time. But he maintains that he is fully focused on guiding his country to the World Cup finals in South Africa, having once again been pitted against England at the qualification stage.ContractBilic said: "I am always being asked about the West Ham job but there is nothing I can say."I have a contract with Croatia until the World Cup ends in 2010."But Di Canio, who became a fans' favourite during his stint as a striker in East London, would reportedly welcome the chance to replace Curbishley. The eccentric Italian is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I am waiting for a job in England because my dream is to come back and I think there are a lot of good things I can bring."I took the coaching badges in the summer and I would like to have a job."My dream team is West Ham. I keep the club in my heart. One day I hope to come back to London and sit on the bench at West Ham."One other name which has been thrown into the frame is former Cagliari coach Davide Ballardini, how has close ties to the Hammers technical director Gianluca Nani. But Ballardini claims he is currently in the dark and has heard nothing from the Premier League club.He told the Daily Mirror: "I do not know about the situation at West Ham."There has been no contact."http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11685_4093399,00.html
Harry Redknapp insists there is 'no way' he will leave Portsmouth to return to West Ham in the wake of Alan Curbishley's departure.Curbishley became the first managerial casualty of the new season when he quit Upton Park after 21 months in charge. That has led to immediate speculation over who will replace him in East London, but former Hammers boss Redknapp has already ruled himself out of the running, as he demands sole charge of team affairs. The major factor behind Curbishley's decision to walk away was the fact that key transfer decisions were taken against his wishes, a stance Redknapp admires. He told The Sun: "Alan Curbishley may have gone as West Ham boss - but there's no way I'll replace him."Curbs quit because he feels he has been undermined and shown a lack of trust by the owner. I take my hat off to him for sticking to his principles."Don't get me wrong, West Ham is a fantastic club, with fantastic fans and - having gone there aged 15 - it has a special place in my heart."But I love it at Portsmouth and I have one big advantage over a lot of Premier League bosses these days: I've got an owner who lets the manager manage."Curbishley's resignation came a day after Kevin Keegan was reported to have left Newcastle following a similar bust-up with the club's owners - although both sides insist Keegan remains at the club. And Redknapp feels managers will simply have to get used to a different job description as the trend of billionaire owners sweeps the Premier League."The days of managing as I know it are coming to end - you will basically be given players and told to get on with it," he continued."West Ham sold players and it was nothing to do with Alan - but that will happen more and more."Let's face it, the way it's going, every Premier League club will be owned by a foreign billionaire."They all want to win the title, they all want to be in the Champions League and if they don't get it they'll be changing managers like we change socks. It will be a revolving door that never stops turning."And while we're at it, we might as well sack all the scouts too, as there won't be any need if players are coming and going above managers' heads."http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11685_4093227,00.html
