Some change to attitudes to divorce needs to happen though. A lot of Asian families & communities treat divorce as unspeakable, even when there's abuse involved. She's moved back, disowned by her family and the guy is threatening to kill her cos she left him. cos the f*cker was beating her for no reason.2nd) Chick falls in love with a guy. Dad won't let them get married. Believes his daughter is too good for the other family.Tug-of-war between the boyfriend and the dad. families sit down and talk and get nowhere. Dad beats the girl continuously.She elopes and marries the bre. Dad finds out...hires a hitman. Jodie Posted December 4, 2008 Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 I think its wrong and its such a sad story to hear of these women being forced into a marriage that they dont want to be in, then the woman ends up being beaten by the man like she signed some sort of contract.I can understand its all in their beliefs and culture, but i dont kno how they can live with themselves when they know full well that their daughters arent happy with the way they're literally controlling their lives.Couldnt force someone to do something, only advise. My cousin was killed by her husband in '98, he did 9months in a Sri Lankan jail and returned back to India scot free. He must be killed on site. Lucky im more in touch with my mums African side than i am with my dads.
