HI,To keep ik short I'll give you some strengths and weaknesses of Vermaelen:Strengths:Good headerStrongReally good positioningGood MentallityWeaknesses:Makes a lot of crucial mistakes, a couple of years ago everybody thought it was his youthfull age but he keeps making themnot very fast (but definitely not slow)Just no way better then Gallas en Touré, and probably never will. Altough I think he's better in possession.
I would say that this season, our defence was found out with long balls and lack of strong mentality when defending a lead or losing a goal. If true, the strengths that this dutch "expert" has pointed out will go some way to solving our problems. lol @ "not very fast (but definitely not slow)" being classed as a weakness. Plus I would like to see these "crucial mistakes"

Why would I wear a T-shirt telling him what he already knows, come on Tulse, get it together. What I wanna know is do you get your mum to make you a burger at half-time in the stream? I reckon you do and wait right til the last 5 minutes of the interval to get it and run back to your pc chair.

Thomas Vermaelen will have a medical at Arsenal on Friday the 23-year-old has claimed, ahead of putting pen to paper on a reported four-year deal with The Gunners.Ajax centre-back Vermaelen has been tracked by Arsene Wenger’s side in recent weeks, with differing reports stating various stages of progression in his proposed move. The Belgium international stated recently there would be further talks over a switch to Emirates Stadium, although there has been a delay in the advancement of those negotiations due to the player's vacation. However, he has now revealed he will travel to London at the end of the week to complete some of the formalities of his transfer.“The signature is not there yet, but everything is in order,” Vermaelen told Gazet van Antwerpen.“On Friday I will fly to London to undergo a medical. Then I hope to sign.”He continued: “I feel so proud. Arsenal is a fantastic club, and as a child I watched them play.”A fee of £11 million has been mooted as persuading Ajax to part with their defensive talent, who scored four goals in 31 league appearances last season as the Amsterdam outfit finished third in the Dutch Eredivisie.“On Friday, if I go to Emirates Stadium I will be seriously impressed,” he said. “This will be a big change in my life, next year I will suddenly be facing the best strikers in the world.“This does not scare me, I will give everything my body has.“This is one of the best days of my life.”
looks like a done deal.I'll give the lad a chance.

Fully backing if he arrives. People just want a big name to assure them with some familiarity. If Wenger sees the quality, u know it is there. And u know he won't be paying £11m, imagine it will be £5-8m.Doubt he has been bought in to be 1st choice anyway. Something tells me he wiil be replacing one of our current CBs either silvestre or gallas.
