J. Cole has decided to give fans the first of a series of releases leading up to the release of his Roc Nation debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story (Sept. 27).

Any Given Sunday Vol. 1 is a five-track collection of never-before-heard music from the Roc Nation signee which he gives a brief explanation of the history to each track.

1. Like A Star: "Was saving this for the 2nd album. Due to some other sh*t beyond my control, I’ma let this out now."

2. Knock On Wood: "One of my fav. freestyles. OG Dreamvillains gotta be reminded, new fans gotta get put on."

3. Pity: "Brand new J. Cole, Omen, Voli. Produced by Voli @volitheentity"

4. How High: "at one point this was guaranteed to go on The Sideline Story."

5. Unabomber: "Just heard this today for the first time in a longgg time. Love these raps."

Every Sunday til the album drops I’ll be back with something. Maybe just 1 song, maybe a video, depending on how I’m feeling.

September 27! We almost there. Until then…

Super tired from an incredible video shoot.

For the record, these are not mixtapes, not EP’s either. I wake up on Sunday’s and I decide what songs I want to let out or rerelease for yall. You’ve been so patient for 2 YEARS! I think you deserve some insight and unreleased music.

1. Bring Em’ In- Made this in ATL during the “single hunt” phase. Even though it wasn’t a single and won’t make the album, I love this sh*t!

2. Roll Call- Just some real sh*t. Venting

3. Be Freestyle- “Put on for my city like my favorite jacket… “man, you gon’ where that every got damn night??”.. “know what I paid for this sh*t?? bitch, you got damn right!!”

Hov still hasn't contributed a verse to his protege's project, but he was impressed by what he's already heard from the project.

J. Cole is still waiting on a verse from Jay-Z for his upcoming debut Cole World: The Sideline Story (September 27th), but Hov thinks it’s already a classic without it. In an interview with Rap-Up.com, Cole recalled hearing Jay’s impression of the album secondhand from Roc Nation executive Rich Kleiman.

“When I played him the album, I could gauge his response not on what he said, but what his vibe was,” he said. “I linked up with Rich Kleiman and he said he was with Jay-Z later that night. Out of nowhere, Jay said, ‘So Cole got a classic. That motherf*cker.’”

As for getting that elusive verse from Hov, Cole says that it may or may not make the final cut - but that it won’t make or break the album.

“We’ll see. It’s very possible that he might not be on it. I feel like it’s dope as hell though,” he explains. “The whole world knows that J. Cole is waiting on a Jay-Z verse, but if it don’t happen, it don’t happen. But how ill is it that the album is called The Sideline Story, which is a metaphor for me trying to get off the bench, and I’m waiting for the nod from the coach?”
