Spun it a few times and it's a lot better than I first thought, the first 7 tracks are strong but 'she knows' fucks up the flow of the album for me.

 

It's not the type of album that's gonna blow you away straight away but once you accept the subtlety of the production style he went for as opposed to what's out there now I think it grows on you.

 

Would say it's about a 7.5 but I could see my opinion of it going up with time.

..Born sinner is a niceeee ashame it only last 3 minutes. Everything esle is very skippable, that TLC beat is something from the summer of 1998.

on second listen it wasnt THAT bad just too many boring fillers.power trip is like SOTY material 

 

his production has improved leaps and bounds

me personally was expecting more club friendly or just another hit single or two

 

its not a bad album just got mad boring through the middle the first couple of songs and the last couple are good. in general its a good album

 

i think he could have used tunes from truly yours 1&2 like head bussa,christ tucker etc. its better than filler tracks like 'she knows'

 

overall his album was much better than his first and he should improve more in future projects

He has regressed as an artist

 

His content has not diversified enough, spitting about the same stuff with no longevity 

 

Throwing pointless skits on there

 

Not taking risks with beats and other producers

 

Was expecting him to correct his mistakes from Cole World, be inspired by Good Kid Mad City and its almost 1 million sales, and release an 8/10 album

 

He is ability wise one of the best artists out right now, course we should expect highly and not be content with an ok effort

I think this album will grow on the guys that are unsure about it. 

 

I understand that you think he hasn't diversified himself enough and to be honest i do believe that he does play it safe however it does work to his advantage right from his sampled drums kits that lack clarity to his clever cutting lyrics.

 

As for his skits or the high pitched Cole scene i think it works with the concept of the album and his brand. 

 

I think people need to realise that Cole is not trying to make what every other artist is currently making because that would be easy and tasteless.
