Since when did 'youtube views' become some kind of Platinum Plaque

Since it became one of the most popular sources of music.

If you're getting that amount of views (not on a tr0llery vibe) it's a good indication you've got a decent fan base, the youngers up here are aware of Jonny Gunz and Sneak Bo and i'm pretty sure if they had a decent team behind them they could translate their buzz into some p.

look i know i probably offended a few homebirds wit that post but i stated two facts.

  • that is a standard london showcase

  • what paying crowd is he gonna perform to?

other than that lol at u must think its still 05. u know how many top ten grime artists i saw at showcases jus like that one in 05.

and wot like stick man on the same banner as tinie and dem. even a K Koke gig at this stage would be dead. look at any Giggs crowd. dey aint fans. they spectators.

this is still the first wave of 'road rappers'. a few years from now Johnny'll be singing songs bout its a lipsin ting in scunthorpe and it'll be bless but for now, this is what you get

alot of ppl been signed off youtube. youtube buzz is one of the best indicators imo. obv u have gremlins

Gunz can blow imo, remember most of his views he aint even on grimedaily, them mainstream websites dont support him he only just start gettin vids on mediamassacre recent. which means ppl are searching for him actively.

Fresh Home had around 750k - 1mil in views for that 1 vid but the other account got removed/banned and that was 09. guy is jus catchy

In 05 this would of been acceptable but we're 6 years on and the playing field is more levelled than it was then.

Them times artists had a buzz and didn't have the knowledge or resources to convert it to p but now there's a lot of man who've given independent artists the template on how to do it and resources wise you don't actually need much to expose yourself to a wider audience.

Nobody is saying this guy should be packing out the o2 but he should definitely be taking the next step, him and Sneakbo were on the same vid not so long back and Gunz was the more memorable of the two yet months down the line Sneakbo is the one building up his fan base, doing radio interviews etc.

youtube is important, I swear PRS payments now include youtube hits. On a day when some bosh has had the whole world saying her name based on a 3 minute youtube vid how can you not see how important it is? If she'd sprayed that same bar on a mix cd it wouldn't have caused a stir.

Nah because hers was for being ridiculously sh*t but if you're smart enough you can even convert exposure from being sh*t into p. Look at the brudda Bangs who made that Take u to the movies tune, he was in a KIA advert a few months later based on youtube hits.

But with Sneakbo and Gunz they've got people genuinely interested in their music.

Sneakbo seems to be making the most of his buzz, got singles out on itunes, clothing, making more diverse tunes etc but when I first heard them together I was way more impressed by Gunz. He isn't progressing at the rate e should be.
