Almost murdered my BB installing this, lol.Managed it though, pretty straightforward if you know what you're doing...
i don't feel like murdering my BB anytime soon so do you have any links about how to go about installing it? I'm clueless with this sh*t.
It tells you on the link how to do it man (atleast it does on the 8900 one, if it doesnt for the others then itll be the same steps as the 8900 link)

Has anyone that uses hotmail with their blackberry switched to mobile services protocol provided by microsoft? Its meant to provide real time delivery of emails and read and unread reconcillation with your hotmail inbox, but I have heard it doesn't always work and can sometimes mess up ur email times. I generally receieve my emails within a 5 to 10 min period which is ok with me although I would like emails read on my device to be read in hotmail. But u know what they say if its not broke don't fix it!

does the upgrade unlock the phone?

anyone?

What you mean upgrade? Software update? If so no it won't unlock the phone. Which BB you want to unlock? I used one of the unlockers on Crackberry cost about £7 or £8.

Anyone downloaded the new 9700 update? 5.0.0.423, I updated but can't see much difference..

the original bold

i was talkin bout the OS upgrade yea

link me to one of them crackberry unlockers pls

Hold on a little while. My boy who came back home for a couple months said he can unlock any Bold 9000 free but he's flying back to Australia in 12 mins so will try catch him in a day or two - I'll see if he can still do it or if he's gas.

As soon as he reaches I'll ask him if he can get you the unlock code. If you can wait that is...

Otherwise I used http://www.cellunlock.net/default.asp

Does anyone else think blackberries work a bit rubbish with hotmail? in addition to the syncing problem (this may be rectified by changing to the microsoft mobile services protocol) Does anyone else's messages from their blackberry get blocked my hotmail? Everytime i send a message to my boy from my blackberry he says the red shield with the cross appears when he opens the email and he gets the following message "This message has been blocked for your safety" and he has to click the open message button to open it, I tested it myself, the same thing happened to me.

Right i'm gonna change the protocol and see what happens been deliberating about whether to do it for too long now.

Ok changed protocol and it fixed the above issue and also now if i read an email on my phone its comes up as read in my hotmail inbox finally!

I need a 2nd phone. I have an iPhone currently, but the internet on it is a bit dead, still no push email support i dont think?

My boy said bb is good for email notifications, can anyone verify which one is the best for my purposes. I need one with longest battery life, dont really care about camera/music player etc.

9700, my battery has lasted 3 days, i'm a mid-high user

Do you use media player? and do you keep wifi on all the time? I use my 9700 as ah mp3 player for journey to and from work each day - about 45 mins each way and this kills the battery life, barely get 24 hours. I might try switching wifi off when im out and about to see if this helps.

He didn't mention whether he has the BB services. This could be the problem.

Grr App World doesn't work for me.

When I first got my bb I had the same problem, it wont work till you connect your email to your bb!

I have about 3 emails setup on my bb (including a blackberry address i.e @instantemail.t-mobile.co.uk)

I have done a bit of reading and it could be to do with content lock from T-Mobile.

I'll give em a call when I have a moment.

If you really want to get the most out of your battery life, keep the music on your phone at a low kbs. 128kbs would be the lowest you could get away with, quality wise.

320kbs mp3s will kill your phone in no time as theres much more data for the media player to process. They're usually 3 to 4 times bigger than a 128kps mp3.

So that'd mean you can play upto 3 or 4 more tunes with the same processing power it'd take to listen to one 320kps tune. Which means your battery will last 3 or 4 times longer.

You'd need an mp3 converter to deal with the above though.

Disabling WIFI could help, but only slightly.

The main things that would kill my battery are music and heavy use of apps that use the internet connection.
