i'm actually looking to get a blackberry storm 2 on contract soon

what do you lot know about the phone?

Youtube is your friend

IMO test it out before you buy, you'll either love or hate the touch screen, its not the same type of touch screen as an iphone. It's a clickable creen

alright

cheers mate

It is a marmite situation like said.

I found the screen quite good.

It is a capacitive screen like the iphone some in some respects you will get the same experience like kinetic scrolling and web browsing and such alike can be done in much the same fashion as the iphone (just no pinch to zoom).

However I found the screen far more enjoyable to type on. I would say I was actually faster on the iphone considering I am used to it but that tactile feel of clicking was more enjoyable for me to do.

Like when using a BB Curve 8900 the typing experience was more enjoyable whether writing long or short messages even though with the iphone I was quicker.

But like said go to a vodafone shop and ask for a demo and the opportunity to play around with the phone a bit and they will most certainly ablige your request.

I watched a youtube video in particular and they compared the internet browsing to the iphone, which i kinda thought was unfair and what not.

What rating out of 10 would you give the internet browsing on the storm 2?

3/10

Blackberry browsers are horrible

Very very slow, one of the main reasons why getting a storm is air. With a decent like screen like the storm, browsing the web should be one of its plus points

But, RIM have confirmed there working on a new browser similar to the iphones and androids. Dunno when we'll see that though

haven't read the thread, so apologies if it's been mentioned before.

I wanna get a Blackberry just for BBM, don't want to get out another contract (unless there is contracts out there for no more than £15 a month), so how much am I looking to buy a sim free BB, doesn't have to be the newest ones out as I won't be too bothered about the handset as my main phone will be the iPhone.

And would the BBM just work, or do I have to do top up every month or is there some sort of plan you have to pay a month or both?

Thanks

I've already got an iPhone, want a BB aswell

any reason not to get:

not out until 10th Feb, but if I buy that I can straight away use the BBM services?

I would like to know too! Swear you have to pay for BBM services though?

If you get an o2 simplicity sim you can get a bb bolt on for free on any 600min + contract.

Alternatively I think you can do it on on payandgo by paying £7.50 a month.

On a side note got my bold 9700 yesterday. Battery life is sick. Been bbming all day and on facebook and windows live with wifi and 3g on all day and talk on the phone for about 3 hours and 60-70% battery life still remaining. That amazed me seriously. I am amazed!

On a side note. The device is actually sick. Its not the entertainment device that the iphone is but as a messenging tool it is the best I have ever owned. And yes I had an iphone 3G.

Bold 900 or Curve 8900?

Is a bold for 200 unlocked a good deal?

Yeah it's good.

New or used?

Personally would go for the curve because the 9000 is a bit hench but if you dont mind then go for that and the keyboard is the best of any bb.

Pros of the bold over the curve 8900:

3G (Curve 8900 only has edge and gprs)

Better keyboard

Bigger screen

Negatives of the bold 9000 compared to the 8900:

Curve has a 3.2mp camera, bold has a 2.0mp camera,

Battery life is meant to be much worse on the bold 9000

Alot Hencher

Screen resolution is better on the curve 8900

All in all I would say stick with the curve or save up a bit and sell it and get yourself a 9700.

I got a bold 9700.

Didn't like it at first, but it's sick.

I'm impressed with battery life too.

I got 2 full days of use with a few hours calling, a bit of web browsing a bit of downloading, alot of texting a lot of bbm alot of facebook, alot of setting up of email and etc...

Wifi on

3G on

Never on standby

I was impressed then finally last night while on the phone the phone cut and said battery too low for radio use.

With my iphone the battery would have been gone well before the first day was done.

Did you get it from Orange in the end?

By the way the BB bolt on with o2.

Some info about the fair usage.

It's 200mb if you are on payandgo and if you are on a contract then there is no defined fair usage.

This basically means no one there actually knows what the fair usage amount is. Like with the iphone there is no set fair usage but if you use loads (they speculate over 2gb a month then they will warn you).

So basically it is unlimited within reasonable limits (someone there reckons 2gb on a contract). 200mb fair usage only applies to payandgo bb customers.

But 200mb will be more than enough for most people's use anyway.

FAO MACZ

The 8520 is a great phone and this offer on T mobile should be very good value

I contacted T Mobile before I pre ordering this phone to ask if I could use the 8520 with the Blackberry Messenger on Pay As You Go and their customer support said they dont support this phone on payg

Could Play, com or the supplier of this phone please try to clear up the confusion that surrounds the Blackberry phones on payg or guarantee the T Mobile sim card provided with this phone can be used to subscribe to the blackberry messenger service

Some review on that phone from play.com. The thing is, i'm on contract with T mobile so if i bought this separately then put my sim thats on contract with them, there might be a chance they will allow me. Need to speak to them though
