I ran the battery flat just now. Going to charge it for the next 20+ hours just to try and make sure that the battery will be a full capacity. I don't think modern day batteries have that memory effect thing but can't hurt just to make sure

I am doing a test on the battery of the bold 9700.

Been over 24hours since last charge.

Will see if the battery last 48 hours with my usage!

I get 3 1/2 to 4 days usage on my 9700 with moderate to high usage.

An hour or thereabouts on the phone each day,

30/40 text messages sent and received per day (sometimes a fair bit more),

BBM usage,

Twitter and Facebook usage

As well the odd bit of browsing here and there and

A few e-mails sent each day and about 15 - 20 received each day.

Wifi's off. 3G is always on, providing I get a 3G connection.

Currently installed OS 5.0.0.423.

But what does piss me off is on the day it dies, it dies at crucial moments.

Like halfway through the day it'll drop to 8% battery life, beep and then come up with too low for radio usage or whatever, even though I start the day with 25% battery.

3 1/2 to 4 days?

Are you serious?

phone is nearly dead now at 36 hours for me.

I send about the same number of text messages per day, send about 70-100BBM messages per day, receive a few emails, use some facebook and do some browsing and have msn on for a few hours per day in the background (with about 1-1.5 hours of active use) and 2 hours per day on phone calls..... and the signal indicator light flashing every 5 seconds (just because it is cool).

One thing I am worried about is that I don't know whether I charged the battery properly initially. It was already pre-charged I guess since I put it in the phone and it turned on, charged it till it said 100% instead of doing some 24hour thing and then took it off charge and walked through the door.

I didn't think the 16 hour charges were needed to the newer phones. I've not done it for my last few phones and I've not had issues. Saying that if you find it improves your battery life let us know please, I may well give it a full day charge.

Do you close your applications when not in use? I've made a habit of closing every app after I'm done. I don't like the Signal Indicator so I don't have that on. Wi-fi stays off all the time cos I rarely need it. Don't use MSN for phone but use Facebook and Twitter.

I'll monitor my usage and battery closer just to make sure I'm not over-estimating anything but I'm pretty sure I get about 3 and a 1/2 - 4 days before the battery is fully drained.

Does Orange have 3G bcos i got my Bold yesterday and I havnt seen a 3G connection yet.....

f*ck Orange.

Orange claims to have the largest integrated 3g network in the uk.

If you aren't happy you have a cooling off period to give back the phone.

So how comes I dont get 3G on my Orange Bold?

And i dont have a receipt for the phone......

You got it on a contract right?

I know that orange offer 7 day cooling off period whereby you can cancel the contract and return the phone. After the 7 days you are locked in. Same with all other networks, except o2, they offer 14 days.

If you wanna return it then call them up and say so or get another handset.

I dunno. Is it just that you are lacking 3G in your area or you never seem to have a 3G signal no matter where you are, because if it is just in a few spots that you don't get 3G then that is normal. No network has 100% of areas covered by 3G.

Got my 9700 replaced because I weren't happy with some things regarding the build quality of that particular handset.

Replacement seems to be better in terms of the build quality. So that's cool and I'm happy now.

Does attaching a charger to the device or any device cause damage to the handset it there is no battery inserted.

True apps are dead.

But that ain't what blackberry is about. They have functional apps.

Blackberry is a messaging tool.

The best one I have ever owned. Straight.

The way my facebook notifies me whenever something new happens, the msn, everything is noiice.

I understand why they call it crackberry.

My facebook notifications dont come up anymore

Wheres the settings to turn it back on?

options for the app.

You have to make sure facebook notifications don't go to junk mail on the associated email account.

You can also select that notifications delete themselves from the email account.

Sick.

i gt this BB off my sister

its her email in the messages n whatnot

how do i change that to my email?

ive tried searchin for ettings n sh*t but i cant find any

What network is it on?

First thing is to delete the service books... for that you go to options-->advanced options-->service books-->then delete the service book associated with that email address end is [CIME] (I think).

But to make sure no more emails get sent to that you need to delete the email account from the blackberry site associated with your network. For example o2's blackberry email site is www.02email.co.uk

Go to it on the phone's browser and then delete any email accounts that you want to and on the same site from the browser add the details of whatever email account you want to.

Aslong as you have blackberry services you it will do everything for you and then you can start sending 20 mins after entering the details.

Sounds complex but actually quite simple.

O2 are taking me for f*ck*ng plant pot.

Say they want £10 extra a month for the BB bolt-on, even though I get an inclusive bolt-on as part of my Simplicity 30 package

I'm already paying 30 squid for 1600mins/3200text and a free bolt-on (currently ultd web), I'm not about to pay another tenner ontop of that - I might aswell get a proper contract for that price!

Might have to threaten to leave or something.

The do the BB bolt on.

Remove the web and add the BB unlimited bolt on.

You're either confused or you talked to some dosey tart on C/S.

Just say you want to remove you web bolt on and add the BB unlimited bolt on (witch includes web browsing also).

It was the latter.

Just spoke to them again and they swapped my bolt-on no problem. Cancelled my other contract with them though.

Went to Phones4u to get a sim free 9700 but they've gone up to £450 (from £340) - f*ck all that.

Might just get one on Orange instead but I don't know if you can even de-brand Blackberrys....
