What's your salary?

I started as an Android app developer in London in 2012 at 22, 6 months out of uni with no experience other than some uni project work, but with a degree from a top 10 uni (maybe top 5 in computer science) - I got a job at £24k working for an app development agency and after 1 year I got bumped up to £33k. I was getting £40k+ job offers a year later (via recommendations) once I had 2 years experience but didn't want to continue work in London.

Won't be sharing what I earn now but that's a little info sharing for those interested getting into the field.

As per usual advice, you'll usually get a better wage jump if you move employer - but it doesn't hurt to negotiate with your own. And there's a lot of people who do a shit job in the industry so if you do a good job you will certainly be valued.

What steps did you take to get a job abroad @dub?

starting to get the itch. Thinking maybe Barcelona.

I moved then started looking. But you can easily find jobs before you move or find agents. Spain seemed to have the least English speaking ones but I still saw a few (mind you this was last year, there's probably more now), you can find loads in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, France. Found jobs on the web and then when I updated LinkedIn I started getting contacted by loads of agents.

Did you just work in Germany? Any others? If so. Which was your favourite? Since brexit, there's been a mass exodus of devs to Berlin.

yeah just Germany, like 10 months work for a startup with some remote freelance work from the UK on either side

yeah Berlin has loads of English speaking jobs, read an article saying the job-listing site I used to use quadrupled in visits after Brexit or something like that - reckon I'll probably loose my freelance gig (that I'm doing for the German company because they couldn't find a decent replacement for me) after a few months because of this, thing is I reckon London prospects are always going to be safe for people who are trusted to do a good job

Swear down.  Barcalona?

This is a one bed apartment or roommates?

Valencia. Oh hell no its not a shared place. 1 Bedroom apartment.

I hate sharing with others. Its become the norm in London.

Quality of Life is better and its hot every day. People are very welcoming & friendly here I must say. Some people think I have Spanish in me so I kind of fit in already lol Important to learn Spanish though because not many people speak fluent English at all !
